After a disastrous season which saw them record their lowest points tally in the history of the premier league, United were given a reprieve as they were given a reprieve as they were given a reprieve as they were given a reprieve as they were given a reprieve as they were given a reprieve as they were

As he gave his verdict on the season, De Gea warned those in the dressing room that he felt they were lacking commitment to the cause.

It is the same feeling. The level we have shown in the last three or four months is not good enough to win a match in the league.

I just want to be positive and forget about this season. The new manager was in the stands. I hope things will get better next season. Everyone knows that this has been a bad season.

Ralf Rangnick

Sunday was the final game in charge of United for interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who will take up a role as a consultant for the next two years.

There was a lot of excitement surrounding his arrival. After a collapse under his predecessor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a sense of hope and optimism has been created at United by the work of Rangnick.

The experiment has not worked. When he first arrived, top four still felt like a possibility, but this side has fallen to their worst season in the history of the league.

He admits that too many compromises were made to incorporate the Portuguese forward, and that United's other less-defensively motivated forwards aren't reflected in the system. He says he and his staff have to share the blame.

Aside from his obvious failures on the pitch, Rangnick has brought a new perspective to Old United. Solskjaer sought to deal with any problems behind closed doors, while Rangnick has been transparent in his offerings.

His honesty has shone a light on some of the biggest problems at United, leaving no one in doubt about the task ahead of new manager Erik ten Hag.

He has made a big impact off it, despite not succeeding on the pitch. His expertise and experience of rebuilding football clubs from top to bottom could prove to be crucial if his voice is heard over the next two years.
