People who have traveled to Central and West Africa are more likely to be affected by monkeypox.

At least a dozen cases have been detected across Europe and North America this month, leaving experts scrambling to investigate the spread.

The United States had its first-ever monkeypox outbreak in 2003

On May 7, the UK Health Security Agency confirmed a case of monkeypox in a patient who had traveled from Nigeria to the United Kingdom.

There have been 20 cases of monkeypox detected by the UKHSA.

According to the World Health Organization, the virus has been detected in the US, Canada, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.
