I think hotel credit cards are one of the mostunderappreciated credit cards out there, because of the perks that they potentially offer, such as free night certificates to elite status. I'm mostly loyal to Hyatt and Marriott, but the number of new luxury hotels the group has opened has grown on me, as well as how easy it is to earn points with the group's credit cards.
One of the most popular consumer credit cards is theHiltonHonors American Express surpass. The card has a fantastic bonus for new customers, offers valuable status for as long as you have the card, and comes with some bonuses on spending that might make the card worth using for your everyday purchases.
Let's take a closer look at what you need to know about the card.
The welcome bonus is two parts through July 6, 2022.
130,000 Honors points are worth $ 650 to me, because I value them at 0.5 cents each. It's worth $780 if you add in up to $130 in statement credits.
Those who have had the card in the past are not able to receive the welcome offer. You are eligible for the bonus if you have had any other Hilton card, including the no annual fee card, the business card, or the premium $450 annual fee card.
Amex cards are easy to be approved for if you have good credit. Make sure you know that.
All major credit card application restrictions can be found in this post.
The card has an annual fee. You can add authorized users to the card at no extra cost, even though the annual fee isn't waiving for the first year.
The card has bonuses that could make it worth using for everyday spending. Depending on what categories you are spending money in, the card offers 12x points per dollar spent.
You can also earn a free weekend night reward with spending if you earn a Diamond status with the Hilton Surpass Card.
The card gives 12x points for spending at hotels around the world. This includes all of the Hilton brands.
I value the points at 0.5 cents each, so to me it's like a 6% return on hotel spending.
6x points can be earned at U.S. restaurants, supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations.
One of the best returns you can find on a co- branded credit card is in those categories. It's awesome to earn bonus points in three categories.
I value the 3x points on all other eligible purchases at a return of 1.5%. There are better cards for everyday spending, but there are some tricks to do even better.
It's an excellent card for purchases abroad, because it has no foreign transaction fees.
The benefits are what really shine about the credit card, though it is a well-rounded card. Even if you don't want to spend that much on the card, it can be worth it. Why is this card so valuable?
You can get complimentaryHiltonHonors Gold status if you have thehilton surpass card. The lowest annual fee card that offers Gold status with Hilton is this one.
Gold status is excellent for someone who occasionally stays at the hotel.
You can earn Diamond status for spending on this card. If you spend $40,000 on the card in a year, you'll earn top tier Diamond status, which comes with perks.
If you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases in a calendar year, you can earn a free weekend night reward. It's worthwhile to put spending on the card because of this benefit.
This could be used at properties that cost up to 150,000 points per night. If you put $15,000 of spending on the card in non-bonused categories, you'll earn 45,000 Honors points and a free weekend night, which is an excellent deal if you redeem it for a top property.
Some cards offer full Priority Pass memberships, but they have higher annual fees. The annual fee is reasonable and the Priority Pass visits are free. That perk is useful for someone who travels a lot.
Purchase protection and extended warranty coverage are offered by the Amex Hilton card. While you want to check your cardmember agreement for all the details, you can potentially expect more.
Amex offers, which offers savings on purchases with all kinds of retailers, is one of my favorite features of Amex cards. If you get as many Amex cards as possible, you can get the offers on multiple cards.
Amex offers could save you money. You can access the offers by logging into your account and scrolling down to the bottom of the summary page.
One of the largest hotel groups in the world, and a great option for anyone who is looking to get started with the group, is the Hilton Honors surpass card. The card could pay for itself after just one or two stays, thanks to free breakfast and more.
In order to earn a free weekend reward and Diamond status, the card needs to be spent.
Let's take a quick look at a few other aspects of the card.
How does the no annual fee American Express card stack up against the $95 annual fee surpass card?
The no annual fee card doesn't give you the chance to earn Diamond status or a free weekend night reward with spending, and it doesn't offer complimentary Gold status. I think the annual fee is worth it. After a year, you can try out the surpass card.
The $450 annual fee for theHiltonHonors American Express Aspire Card is excellent. Many people will be put off by the annual fee, but I think it could be worth it. The card does offer something.
There is a comparison of the two cards here.
There is a great bonus for new members on the Hilton Honors Surpass Card. On top of that, there are valuable ongoing perks. The card can be worth having for the Gold status alone, and it can also be worth spending a lot of money on it each year for the threshold bonuses.
The value of free breakfast and upgrades will add up quickly even if you don't stay at the hotel often.
