Jordan Binnington left the game after a collision in the crease. There is a time and a place for it.

While the Colorado Avalanche took a 2-1 series lead over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night, it was center Nazem Kadri who dominated the postgame conversation.

The Blues questioned Kadri's role in Binnington's injury, which forced their starting goalie to leave Game 3 early in the first period. Kadri said Binnington threw a water bottle at him during a television interview.

Binnington left after blocking a shot by Artturi Lehkonen in the first period. Kadri and Calle Rosen went for a loose puck. The St. Louis trainer came out on the ice after Binnington stayed down. The Blues goalie tried to stay in the game, making some movements in the crease. He reached down to his left leg to get out of the ice.

He had a lower-body injury. Ville Husso entered the game and gave up four goals on 23 shots.

Kadri was questioned by Blues coach Craig Berube about his role in the collision.

Look at Kadri's reputation. He said nothing about Kadri, who was banned for eight games in the playoffs for an illegal check to the head.

Bednar defended his player.

reputation does not mean anything. It is either a legal play or not. He said that they talked about this with Naz and the way he was trying to change his reputation. They collide before they go in because they are skating in there as hard as they can. Again, it is unfortunate. It is a legal play.

Binnington and Kadri had a previous incident. Binnington was given a 10-minute misconduct penalty for swinging his goalie stick at Kadri after a scrum between the teams.

Kadri was talking about the collision after the incident in Game 3. He paused for a moment and then said that Binnington may have thrown a water bottle at him.

Kadri didn't back off that insinuation in his postgame news conference. Kadri said that you would have to ask him, because he was a little tied up. I don't know.

Two people confirmed that it was Binnington who threw the water bottle.

Kadri defended his actions.

I see a loose puck. It was sitting behind him. The defenseman pushed me into him. He said that he didn&t think he would have hit him if that had not been the case.

Binnington's loss was significant for the Blues. He went 4-1 in five games after replacing Husso in the first round of the playoffs. In the first two games of the series, Binnington had stopped 81 of 85 shots and entered the Saturday night game with the best save percentage in the playoffs.

Husso gave up a goal to O&Connor at 10:57 of the first period. The Avs got second-period goals from Kadri and Lehkonen, but the Blues got one back from Ryan O'Reilly at the end of the second.

Binner is the heart and soul. Playing well. It took us too long to get it back after his injury. Gabriel Landeskog iced the game on a goalie pull from St. Louis.

There is a fourth game in St. Louis on Monday.
