Tiger Woods withdrew from the tournament after the third round.
The 15-time major champion acknowledged before withdrawing that he might not compete in the final round because of pain in his leg.
I am sore. I know that is true, I will do some work and see how it goes.
Woods started well at the Masters but looked worse as the tournament went on.
The struggles began at Southern Hills Country Club. He said his leg was giving him trouble after he carded a four-over 74 in the first round.
Woods told reporters that he could not load it. It is just golf. I don't play that if I don't do that.
He made the cut after shooting a one-under 69 in the second round, but his worst round ever in a major was in the third round. He found the water with his tee shot on the sixth hole, which led to a double bogey. He bogeyed five straight holes at one point.
There was little respite from a birdie on No. 15.

Woods finished nine over and was in a tie for last at 12 over.
The fact he was so far off the lead might have made the decision easier for him.
The U.S. Open will be held in June in Massachusetts, and this will cast doubt on Woods' status. He has filed to enter the event, but that is not a guarantee.
