Amex marches on with the points parade, hopefully coming soon to a mailbox near you.
A few members of our Frequent Miler Insiders group have reported receiving a snail mail Business Platinum card offer from Amex good for 250,000 Membership Reward points with a hefty spend requirement of $30,000 within the first 6 months. That is the highest offer I have ever seen for the Business Platinum and it requires a lot of spend, but it could be a great haul for someone who can meet the requirement.
The key card details are provided for informational purposes. If you click the information below, you will be taken to a dedicated card page with current public offer information, which is only available via physical mailer.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express The fee is annual. Amex pay over time card 1.5X points per dollar on eligible purchases of $5000 or more, on up to $2 million of those purchases per year, and 1.5x on US construction/hardware stores. Up to $400 a year in statement credits for Dell purchases, up to $200 a year for airline incidental fees, and up to $120 a year in wireless services credits. Enrolling for certain benefits is required. The Amex Platinum Guide is also available. |
The bonus here is great if you maximize your Amex foreign airline partners for high-value sweet spot awards, for those who can meet the spending requirement.
If you need some time to stretch out purchases or payment, this one could be useful. I put $25K on an Amex Platinum card to take down a large bonus when I bought a car earlier this year. That could be appealing for some. My wife was recently approved for an additional Business Platinum card with a pay over time limit that would easily accommodate the spending requirement, though she had to get approved with a high enough pay over time limit.
This is a really strong offer and it wouldn't make sense to divert spend that you would otherwise put toward additional bonuses. At a base level, the 250,000 points could be used to cash out for $2,750 in cash, a return of more than 9%. I transferred 200K points to Air France to book my family of 4 in business class one way from Europe to the US, with $85 in taxes per passenger, just last week.
Between this and the Business Gold offer, Amex.
