A heated afternoon on the field continued after the game, with Tim Anderson taking offense to being called "Jackie" by the New York Yankees, a comment deemed "racist" by Tony LaRussa.

Donaldson apologized after the game for calling Anderson "Jackie", a nod to Robinson. Anderson took offense to it.

Donaldson said the comment was in reference to Anderson saying in an interview that he was getting to a point where he needed to change the game.

A source told Gonzalez that Major League Baseball is looking into the matter and speaking to all of the relevant parties involved.

After the final out, Donaldson rounded second base and began jawing with Anderson as the teams left the field. Donaldson and Anderson were led off the field by third base coach Joe McEwing.

Anderson said that he was trying to call him a name. I do not play at all. He made a comment that was disrespectful and I don't think it was called for. It was notneccesary.

"He made a racist comment, Donaldson, and that's all I'm going to say," said LaRussa. That is as strong as it gets.

Anderson was asked if he agreed with LaRussa. Same. Along that same line.

Donaldson told reporters that he would be willing to meet with Anderson to discuss the incident.

Donaldson apologized if he did, after Saturday's game. Like that is not what I was trying to do.

The benches were cleared in Chicago on May 13 when Anderson objected to Donaldson's hard tag.

In the fifth game of the day, the catcher for the WhiteSox stood up from his crouch and began jawing at Donaldson. The benches emptied and LaRussa yelled at Donaldson as the relief pitchers ran in.

Anderson continued to shout at Donaldson while being restrained. Umpires issued warnings to both sides and Donaldson struck out.
