The perks that hotel credit cards offer, such as elite status and free nights, make them one of the mostunderappreciated credit cards.
I've been loyal to Hyatt and Marriott for a long time, but in the last few years, I've found that the number of new luxury hotels the group has opened has grown on me, as well as how easy it is to earn points and status with the group.
I have reviewed all three personal credit cards.
If you have a small business, the one business credit card issued by American Express is a great option. There is a limited time welcome offer on the card.
There is a small business credit card by the name of the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. How does this card compare to other business credit cards?
I wanted to take a closer look at the welcome bonus, annual fee, return on spending, perks, and more.
There is a bonus for applications through July 6, 2022.
The 130,000 points are worth $650 to me because I value them at 0.5 cents each. My total value here is $780 if you add in the potential value of $130 in statement credits.
The welcome bonus on the business card is not available to people who have had the card in the past. You are eligible for the bonus if you have any of the personal credit cards from the company.
Amex cards are easy to get approved for for people with excellent credit. Make sure you know Amex's general application restrictions.
The annual fee for the credit card is $95. You can add authorized users to the card at no extra cost.
The card offers anywhere from 3-12x Honors points per dollar spent, which is potentially useful.
If you spend enough on the card, you can earn up to two weekend night certificates if you spend enough.
Which types of purchases earn bonus points?
The credit card gives 12x points for spending at all of the hotels. I value the points at 0.5 cents each, which is an excellent return on hotel spending.
6x points per eligible dollar spent in a variety of categories are offered by the business credit card.
It's an equivalent of 3% return on spending in those categories, which is pretty good, but in many cases there are better options.
I value the 3x points on all other eligible purchases at a return of 1.5%. There are better cards for everyday spending, but there are some tricks to do even better.
The Hilton Business Card has no foreign transaction fees, so it is an excellent card for purchases abroad.
The benefits of the business card are more than the annual fee can justify. What are the circumstances under which these perks are worth taking advantage of?
You can earn up to two free weekend night rewards each year.
It is worthwhile to put spending on the card because of this benefit. These certificates can be redeemed at properties that cost up to 150,000 points per night.
If you put $15,000 of spending on the card in non-bonused categories, you'll earn 45,000 Honors points and a free weekend night, which is an excellent deal if you redeem it for a top property.
The weekend night rewards have some things to be aware of.
The good news is that these certificates are more flexible than usual. The free night certificates can be redeemed on any day of the week.
You can get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status for having the business Amex. This is the lowest annual fee card that has a spending requirement.
Gold status is excellent for someone who occasionally stays at the hotel.
You can earn Diamond status for spending on this card. If you spend $40,000 on the card in a year, you'll earn top tier Diamond status, which comes with perks.
Some cards offer full Priority Pass memberships, but they typically have annual fees of over $500. The annual fee for the business card is reasonable, and the Priority Pass visits are free. That perk is useful for someone who travels a lot.
Amex offers, which offers savings on purchases with all kinds of retailers, is one of my favorite features of Amex cards. If you get as many Amex cards as possible, you can get the offers on multiple cards.
Amex offers could save you money. You can access the offers by logging into your account and scrolling down to the bottom of the summary page.
I think it's worth having a Hilton credit card. The only small business card that I think is the best is the Hilton Business Card, which is one of the all-around best credit cards.
If you have the card from the Hilton Business Amex, you can get Gold status, which comes with perks like breakfast and more. Even if you only stay at a few times a year, that should make up for the annual fee.
Spending money on the card could be worth it, as it allows for the ability to earn a Diamond status and up to two weekend night rewards. You can come out ahead with this card if you add in the welcome bonus.
I wanted to give a few more thoughts on the card.
I think it's worth spending $15,000 a year on the card to get a weekend night reward, and I think the perks are worth it.
If you spend $15,000 on the card, you will earn at least 45,000 Honors points, which can be redeemed for a weekend night at the top hotel in town.
The Hilton Surpass Card is essentially the personal version of the Hilton Business Card. The cards have a lot in common, as both offer 10 Priority Pass visitors per year, have a $95 annual fee (Rates & Fees), offer 12x points on Hilton spending, etc.
What are the differences between the two?
I think the business version of the card is better than the personal version.
The only co-brand business card offered by Amex and Hilton is the Hilton Business Card, and it offers some fantastic perks.
The annual fee should be justified after just a couple of stays, since you get Gold status for having the card. The weekend night rewards and Diamond status can be found on the card.
This card is worth it even if you don't stay at the hotel often. That is true right now, because of the huge welcome bonus being offered by the card.
