One of the more popular fairy tales is the story of a genie who gives out three wishes. Three Thousand Years of Longing has a genie that you have never seen before. Alithea Binnie is a scholar who doesn't believe in magic or genies, and she has a new master in the form of the djinn.

In the first trailer for Three Thousand Years of Longing, we learn how Alithea acquires the lamp that served as both home and prison for the djinn. It's hard for Alithea to argue against the existence of magic when the djinn appears to her as a true giant. He has a proposal for Alithea: three wishes in exchange for his freedom.

Alithea is aware that making three wishes is a bad idea. The djinn will tell the stories of people who lived thousands of years before Alithea. Alithea may be able to write her own chapter because of their stories.
