The upcoming sci-fi film from auteur Bong Joon Ho will feature Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. We couldn't be more excited about this latest development since it was the director's multi-Oscar haul for Parasite.
It's great to see another powerhouse ensemble come together for one of our new modern masters as the medium of film continues to get its bearings outside of blockbusters at the theaters. Bong will be both directing and writing the script for the film, which is an adaptation of the recently released novel Mickey7 by writer Edward Ashton. The book centers around Mickey7, who is a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there is a mission that is too dangerous or even suicidal, the crew turns to Mickey. A new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact after one iteration dies.
We are going sci-fi and getting some clone action with Robert Pattinson, an actor we love to see dig into heady material like this. Some of the crew mentioned will be filled out by Ruffalo, Collette, and Ackie. With the idea of a guy who gets cloned and his mind is reborn, we are getting the energy of that Groundhog Day device. We will wait for another Batman movie if we can get this one first.
