Josh Rojas hit three home runs as the D-backs defeated the Cubs. The first part of the story is over.

Josh Rojas became the 13th player in team history to hit three home runs in a game, as he did against the Cubs on Friday.

Coming into the game with zero and leaving with three was a pretty good feeling.

It was the first three home runs of his career. He is the fourth player to go deep three times in a game this season, joining Boston, the New York Yankees and Toronto.

I went out for batting practice and I knew it was blowing out.

In the third and fifth frames, he hit two homers off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks, and in the seventh, he hit one off Givens. He is the first player in the history of the team to hit three home runs in the same game.

After hitting three home runs in his next three plate appearances, he once again tried to hit one out, but was called out on strikes.

The first at-bat I was trying to hit a home run. I was trying to hit a fourth home run with a good lead.

When you try to hit a home run, go back as far as little league, it never happens, said Arizona manager Torey Lovullo.

The seven home runs by the D-backs were the most in a game this season.

David Peralta of Arizona hit two homers, while Christopher Morel of Chicago hit two homers in the seventh. By the final out, the Cubs and the D-backs had tied the record for most home runs in a game at Wrigley Field. It was the first time in seven years that there had been 11 combined home runs at Wrigley.

Lovullo said that these days have happened in this stadium for a long time.
