The new movie, "Downton Abbey: A New Era," was released in theaters on May 20 and is expected to hit the Peacock streaming service.
Universal has previously said that all of its movies will hit Peacock as soon as 45 days after their theatrical premiere. The show could arrive on Peacock on July 5.
In "Downton Abbey: A New Era", Lady Violet is told that she has a villa in France from a man she spent time with in the 1860s. The family takes a trip to find out more about the villa's former owner. A film crew descends upon the estate to film a new talking picture.
Hugh, Elizabeth, McGovern, Laura, Carmichael, Jim, Carter, and Logan all reprise their roles from the first movie. At the time of writing,Downton Abbey: A New Era holds a 85% Certified Fresh rating from review-aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes.
The only place you can watch the show is in a movie theater. You can find movie times and purchase tickets online.
After the theatrical premiere of "Downton Abbey: A New Era" on May 20, it will be available on Peacock. The movie could hit Peacock as early as July 5.
After each movie is released in theaters, Universal/Focus Features will release their entire theatrical lineup on Peacock. The minimum window for movies to be exclusive to theaters is 45 days. The streaming release for "Downton Abbey: A New Era" is subject to change until Universal and Peacock officially announce a date.
All Premium and Premium Plus subscribers will be able to watch it once it is released on Peacock. ad-supported streaming costs $5 a month. Premium Plus costs $10 a month.
Although it hasn't been officially confirmed or denied, the series creator has teased a potential third film to complete a trilogy.
