Virgin Atlantic axes plans for Edinburgh-Barbados winter service

The winter service from Edinburgh to Bridgetown was dropped by Virgin Atlantic.

As we emerge from the Pandemic, we have had to make careful decisions about our network, continually reviewing flying and holiday schedules.

Due to the difficult decision to suspend plans to operate Edinburgh-Barbados services this winter, customers will be contacted from this weekend to inform them of the cancellation and their options.

We are very sorry for disrupting customers, but we will continue to operate services from Manchester and Heathrow.

Affected customers will be booked on to a Manchester service with all reasonable transport costs reimbursed.

Customers who are affected by the re-routing can choose to get a voucher or a full refund. If you booked via a third party, you should contact them directly for your options.

We will continue to evaluate new routes for our Edinburgh gateway and remain committed to serving our Scottish customers, in close cooperation with our partners at Edinburgh airport.

Regular services will continue to the Caribbean island from Manchester and London this winter.

On August 11, 2021, a winter service from Edinburgh to Barbados was announced.

The services were due to start again on December 12.

There will be five times a week from Manchester and twice a day from Heathrow.

Virgin Atlantic started twice-weekly services from Edinburgh to Florida.

Aer Lingus just announced the renewal of their winter service in Manchester in 2022-23.

British Airways connect from multiple Scottish airports via London Heathrow to Barbados with up to three flights a day in peak season.

Barbados had a very successful winter with visitor numbers back to previous levels. The season was very strong.
