CNN reported that the US is serious about winning back the affections of the Saudi crown prince.

CNN reported that a meeting between Biden and Crown Prince Mohammed could happen on the fringes of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh.

Biden is expected to visit Israel next month.

Biden pledged to make Saudi Arabia a pariah in the run up to the 2020 election.

The US said that he was not an equal head of state and demoted him to the rank of defense minister. The US said Biden's counterpart was King Salman, the ailing father of Saudi Arabia's crown prince, who has delegated the running of the nation to his son. Biden has yet to speak to the person.

In turn, MBS has said he doesn't care what Biden thinks of him and reportedly shouted at Jake Sullivan in September when the US National Security advisor raised the case of the murder of the journalist.

Relations soured further last year after Saudi Arabia and the UAE felt let down by the slow US response to a series of terror attacks in the Arabian Gulf.

The US was hoping that Saudi Arabia would increase oil production last month after Washington banned imports of Russian oil.

The Saudis declined, however, with the Saudis ignoring attempts from Biden to call him.

In recent weeks, top US officials, including CIA director Bill Burns, have traveled to Saudi Arabia to try to build bridges.

In a sign of how serious the US is about the Gulf, this week Biden sent a high-level delegation to pay respects to the President of the United Arab Emirates, who passed away.

The delegation was led by Vice President Kamala Harris and included Burns, Antony Blinken, and Lloyd J. Austin.

There are signs that the US and Saudi Arabia are getting along.

The deputy defense minister of Saudi Arabia met with McGurk and Sullivan on Wednesday after Biden appointed a new US ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The official Saudi readout of the meeting said they discussed ways to deepen relations between the two countries.
