Everton 3-2 Crystal Palace: 'One of the greatest nights of my career' - Frank Lampard

Thousands of fans wanted to go to the pitch to celebrate the club securing survival in the most dramatic of fashion, because they had their nerves shredded this season.

One fan ran across the roof in front of the executive box with a smoke flare, while another did it in his pants. Even the manager was there.

The scenes were very similar to when they won the title in 1987.

They spoke of relief after a difficult season in which they had to pay for a move into a new stadium and had suspended some of their sponsor contracts.

Everyone connected with the club was aware of what was at stake and one of them was FrankLampard who has previously spoken of how survival would match his title wins as a player.

Dropping out of the league would have made the fall much worse.

It is one of the greatest moments of my footballing life and career, as a player and a coach. It is different when you feel the desperation of the situation.

I thought I might jump out of my body. Nobody can question the celebrations at the end. It is easy to say, but you haven't won anything.

You can come and work at this club for a few months and see what it's like to stay in this league.

It is a special night in the history of the club.

Over the last month, fans have shown their feelings by showing up early to greet the team bus on its way to Goodison Park and create a carnival atmosphere. They were clear at full-time when thousands poured onto the pitch, and loudly clear when they were still singing down the Goodison Road.

They deserve it for their efforts in helping the team.

One supporter said that they should just win 2-0 instead of going two goals down first.

During matches where poor first halves have led to second-half resurgences, tension and anxiety have been common.

Alex Iwobi scored a 97th-minute winner to spark wild scenes, after a protestor tied himself to a post and Allan had been sent off. Richarlison dug out a 90th-minute tying goal againstLeicester.

The Brazilian scored the winner against the Blues after Jordan Pickford made two saves.

The type of celebrations which will live long in the memory were inspired by the 85th-minute winner by Calvert-Lewin.

The Palace manager was involved in an altercation with a supporter who ran on to the pitch to insult him.

It was pure joy, said Lampard. It was a special moment for the football club and I think if done in the right way, let them stay on the pitch and enjoy it for a bit as long as everyone behaves.

Let them have their moment, football is all about that.

There will be a determination to make sure the club moves forward and never dances with danger again.

The work that needs to be done is shown by the fact that they have come so close.

"It's pure relief, it's nine minutes after the half-time break, and we are back in the game," said Michael Keane.

It has been a hard season but we are so proud of how the club has come together the last six weeks and built a platform to make sure it never happens again.

We have had our mentality questioned and how much we care. It hurt. We care more about this club than any other. The fans have been let down by us. You can see what it means to the players. We didn't want to take the club down.

After three-and-a-half months in charge, FrankLampard can relax on Sunday against a team that will be vying for a top-four place.

He mentioned the rebuilding job needed to try and restore some pride after a rough season.

He said that now is the time to take stock, enjoy the moment, and make sure that we are not here again next year.

We have to find ways to improve the squad, the club and ourselves.

As long as we are at this club, the staff will give everything.
