The New York Knicks have been searching for a playmaking point guard for years, and it appears that they are willing to trade for a veteran.
According to the New York Post, the Knicks are interested in acquiring the Indiana Pacers floor general. The Pacers brought in a young point guard at the trade deadline, which could have made him expendable.
The addition ofHaliburton has made the Pacers evaluate the future of their incumbent point guard, Malcolm Brogdon, whom the Knicks have some interest in, as he is a better defender and with more size than free agent.
The final year of the four-year, $85 million contract he signed with Indiana will be the last year of his career, and he will make $22.6 million.
In his three seasons with the team, the 29-year-old has never played more than 56 games. He was limited to 36 games due to an injury.
The point guard can run an offense for a playoff contender if he is healthy. He averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 rebound and 5.9 assists in limited action.
