According to The Athletic, Cleveland third baseman Jose Ramirez will have an X-ray after taking a foul ball off his leg in the eighth of Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
Ramirez was checked out by the trainers for a few minutes after getting hit, but he continued to hit.
Ramirez was one of the best players in baseball. He had a.948 OPS with home runs and stolen bases over that time. He came back to form in 2021.
He signed a five-year, $124 million contract extension last season after posting a.893 OPS with 36 homers and 27 steals. He has longballs in 34 games so far.
The Dominican Republic native had three straight years with at least 152 games played, though he did spend time on the injured list in 2019. He was back to full strength for the 2020 season.
If Ramirez is out for a period of time, Yu Chang will take over at the hot corner. Clement is an option to start on the infield.
