Marcus Smart has been upgraded to probable by the Boston Celtics for Thursday's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat.

Smart is expected to be back in the starting lineup as Boston's point guard and floor general. He sat out the first game of the series because of the foot injury he sustained in the Celtics victory over Milwaukee. Smart was hurt when he fell over Antetokounmpo.

Celtics coach Ime Udoka said that he was better but still had to test it out. When he goes before the game, we will know, but he looked better in the shootaround today and we expect him to play.

Celtics center Al Horford was upgraded to questionable early Thursday afternoon -- after being upgraded to doubtful Wednesday evening -- after he suddenly entered the NBA's health and safety protocols shortly before Game 1.

If a player tests positive for the coronaviruses, there are two ways to return to game action.

Udoka said that they were unsure about his status until some testing results came back.

The Celtics announced that White will not play in Game 2 because he and his wife are expecting a child.

rick is having a baby, Udoka said. Our guys are always supported in that situation. He had to go home.

White started Game 1 in place of Smart and finished with three points and four assists. When the series shifts back to Boston, he is expected to be with the team.
