The PFL says it has $30 million in new funding to back its global expansion and the establishment of a pay-per-view superfight division. Waverley Capital was the lead investor in the funding round.
The amount of investment made by Rodriguez, who made more than $450 million during his playing career, was not disclosed by the PFL. He is a prolific investor and has worked on numerous media platforms.
Rodriguez has a minority ownership stake in the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx. The UFC Gym personal fitness arm of the UFC has been invested in by his corporation.
Rodriguez said in a statement that he loves the global reach of MMA.
