The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket is scheduled to lift off at 6:54 pm on Thursday. An uncrewed mission to the International Space Station known as Orbital Flight Test-2 is kicking off.
You can watch it live at Space.com, courtesy of NASA, or directly via the space agency. The coverage will start at 6 p.m. The time is 2200 GMT.
Boeing Starliner Orbital Flight Test 2 mission is live.
The OFT-2 is designed to show that Starliner is ready to carry astronauts to and from the space lab for NASA, which signed a contract with Boeing for such services back in 2004. Four crewed flights to the station have already been launched by the company with its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule.
Starliner will arrive at the International Space Station just over 24 hours after lift off if OFT-2 goes according to plan. After being docked with the lab for a few days, the spaceship will leave and land in New Mexico.
OFT-2 will be Starliners second attempt at an uncrewed ISS. The original OFT, which was launched in December, failed to reach the space station due to a series of problems.
Boeing got Starliner ready to launch in the summer of 2021. It took about eight months to diagnose and mitigate the stuck valves in the capsule's propulsion system, which were discovered shortly before the planned liftoff.
Boeing and NASA officials said everything looks good for an on-time liftoff. The Atlas V rocket and Starliner were rolled out to their pad on Wednesday morning after prelaunch checks showed no issues.
Boeing and NASA aim to launch a crewed test flight to the International Space Station before the end of the year if OFT-2 goes well.
