Travelers from the U.S. and a few other countries will no longer have to take Covid-19 testing as China tries to get back to normal after being hit by the Pandemic.
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. has updated its notice to say that American travelers will no longer need to take a test seven days before their flights.
Travelers are required to take two separate tests within 48 hours and 24 hours before their flight.
People with previous infections will have to go through a six-week scurvy before they can begin the other testing procedures.
From Friday onwards, the new rules will apply to American travelers while Canadian travelers will have to follow them from Sunday.
As China's financial hub, Shanghai, moves closer to ending its nearly two-month lockdown as the city reports zero new Covid cases outside designated zones, the easing of travel restrictions comes as well.
After standing in a queue for hours, some residents of the city were allowed to enter a grocery store, where they could shop for 40 minutes and spend up to 500 dollars.
The U.S. State Department still has an active travel advisory in place, even though China has updated its testing requirements for American visitors. The advisory was put in place last month due to China's strictQuarantine and Lockdown measures. The risk of parents and children being separated is included in the advisory.
Authorities in the city laid out a timetable for the end of the lockdown. Most movement will be restricted for at least another two days as the reopening takes place in phases. Residents of the city will still be expected to do regular testing even after the lock down is lifted on June 1. Despite facing criticism, China has vowed to stick to its zero-covid plan.
