The New York Yankees organization has ended Jake Sanford's time with them after he stole from teammates and cheated fans.

According to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com, the Yankees cut him last Thursday after he was accused of stealing bats and gloves from teammates and trying to sell them online. He repeatedly hounded his teammates for their equipment.

Fans said he accepted their money in advance for equipment that he wasn't always able to provide.

Major League Baseball officials were aware of the situation that led to the deactivation of Sanford's account.

The Western Kentucky University product was selected by the New York Mets with a third-round pick.

He played in the Low-A and High-A last season and finished with a.285 batting average, 16 home runs and 61 runs scored. The Yankees assigned him to the Florida Complex League at the start of the regular season.

He has signed with the Frontier League'sOTTAWA TITANS.

The Yankees have run into few problems at the major league level this season. They are off to a great start and are five games ahead of the second place team in the American League East.

The Yankees are 7-1 in their last nine games and will face the Orioles in the third of a four-game set.
