The timing of Russia's invasion of Ukraine was influenced by President Donald Trump's lack of knowledge on geopolitics, according to a report.
One of the reasons Putin invaded Ukraine was because he thought it would be better to deal with Biden than with Trump, who he didn't like very much.
He thought that someone like Biden, who is a Transatlanticist, who knows all about NATO, who knows where Ukraine is, and is very steeped in international affairs, would be a good choice.
Hill said that Putin doesn't like to do that and that he got frustrated with President Trump because he had to keep explaining things.
A number of Trump's former advisers said he had a poor grasp of global affairs. John Bolton, a former national security advisor, said that Trump once asked if it was part of Russia.
The former White House chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, once complained that Trump didn't know any history at all.
In the book, Hill wrote that Trump's lack of understanding of international affairs was a major liability for US national security.
