The Eagles have signed James Bradberry to a one-year contract.

The deal will pay him $7.5 million, including $7.25 million guaranteed, and another $2.5 million in upside, bringing the total possible value of the deal to $10 million, according to a source. Bradberry was released by the New York Giants on May 9th, with 11 teams reaching out to him, but only three reached out to him before he chose the Eagles.

He is expected to slide right into a starting role opposite Slay, creating a formidable corner trio with Bradberry and Slay.

After Steven Nelson signed with the Houston Texans, the Eagles needed another starter. When the team and veteran free agents had a better idea of what the roster would look like after the draft, it was possible for Roseman to make a move.

The Giants were unable to find a trade partner for the veteran corner. The Giants moved because of money, not an indictment on the player. Bradberry had been set to make $13.5 million this season and would have counted as $21.9 million on the Giants cap.

Bradberry was one of five players on the Giants who made the Pro Bowl. He made the Pro Bowl in his first year with the Giants and had a career-best 79.8 Pro Football Focus grade. He has been in the 60s every year of his career.

He recovered a pair of fumbled balls this past season, which was his career high.

Bradberry spent the first four years of his career with the Carolina Panthers and has 15 intercepts and 92 passes defended in six seasons in the NFL.
