According to a report, the TennesseeTitans are willing to discuss a contract extension with Henry.

According to Jeremy Fowler, the Titans would consider adding a year or two to his current deal in order to help lower his cap hits in the next two seasons.

Henry was limited to eight regular-season games because of a foot injury. He was the leading running back in the league with 962 yards and 10 touchdown before he was injured, and he returned to the field to score a touchdown.

Henry's age and recent injury history make it a risk to negotiate an extension with him. Henry has been an outlier performer throughout his career, so it would be an against-the-grain move from theTitans.

It is possible that theTitans will offer a contract with a lower base salary in exchange for more upfront money. Henry doesn't have a guaranteed salary for this season or next, so an arrangement that protects him against being cut a year from now might be worth taking a pay cut in a few years.

Asking a player who was the most dominant runner in the NFL last season to agree to a pay cut is not easy.
