Chelsea takeover: Roman Abramovich and government reach deal to push through sale to Todd Boehly consortium

The UK government is believed to have found a legal resolution that will allow the sale of the club.

The lawyers for the government and the owner of the club have come to an understanding on how to handle the debt.

Since putting his company up for sale on March 2, Abramovich wanted to write off the debt, but the process was blocked by the sanctions.

Government chiefs were worried that the owner of the club would back out on his promise to waive the loans.

The Russian-Israeli billionaire and his lawyers are confident that their latest proposals will be accepted by the Prime Minister.
