‘Historic Step’: Finland And Sweden Submit Applications To Join NATO

Jens Stoltenberg, the head of the NATO alliance, confirmed on Wednesday that the two historically neutral Nordic nations had submitted applications to join the alliance.

According to an official statement, Klaus Korhonen and the Swedish Ambassador to NATO gave in their official letters of application to join the military alliance.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed their decisions.

The NATO chief said that the member states were determined to reach rapid conclusions to the application process.
