The San Francisco Giants are rumored to be in the market for starting pitching, and the Cincinnati Reds duo of Luis Castillo and Tyler Mahle could be in their crosshairs.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post said on The Show that the Giants are looking at the Reds. The Mets have been looking at him as well. There is going to be a lot of teams looking at these teams because of the lack of depth in the starting pitching. The Giants are a team to keep an eye on.
Castillo is 0-1 this season in two starts with a 5.59 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and seven strikeouts. The All-Star is still trying to find his rhythm after a good season in which he went 8-16 with a 3.98 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 192 strikeouts.
Castillo told reporters after his start on Saturday that he felt fine.
He is 2-4 on the year with a 5.89 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 40 strikeouts in 36.2 appearances. It has been a tough start for him after his fantastic 2021.

Peter Gammons @pgammoTales:Some club people say Reds now willing to talk Luis Castillo and Tyler Mahle, Dodgers will move David Price to give him starting opportunity and two GMs today said A’s won’t trade Frankie Montas for at least two months. The Montas chase will be the running of the bulls.
The Giants and Mets look like legitimate contender, and bolstering the rotation would make sense for both teams. It wouldn't be surprising if both teams were looking to add some pitching.
