Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, coach Sheldon Keefe safe despite another first-round exit

Despite another first-round playoff exit for the team, Brendan Shanahan said that general manager Kyle Dubas and coach Sheldon Keefe will return.

The Maple Leafs lost in seven games to the Lightning. Toronto has failed to advance out of the first round in six straight playoffs, hasn't won a series since 2004, and is looking for its first Stanley Cup since 1967.

We are extremely disappointed. We are not going to make excuses. I thought our players battled hard, I thought they played well, and they lost to a great hockey team. We won't be making changes just for the sake of saying that we made changes.

Dubas was named Leafs general manager in May 2018, and he said that he looks forward to working with Kyle and Sheldon. Keefe was hired as the head coach.

Kyle built a very good hockey team. I think he made excellent adjustments along the way, and I think he is an excellent coach.

Toronto finished second in the Atlantic Division with 115 points. Its.701 points percentage was the highest in franchise history.
