What about shooting? What is shooting?

You mean the mass shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo that left 10 people dead and three injured? 11 of the 13 victims were African American. The one where the killer wrote about the great replacement theory? Is it being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism? That shooting?

We watched Fox News from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, curious to hear its take on the event. Surely there would be something in the Fox style. We should not rush to judgement and call it a hate crime. liberals were seizing on the event as an opportunity to take away your Second Amendment rights

We waited.

Between 9:30 and 10 a.m. there was one reference. Fox told its viewers that people were dead in a shooting in Buffalo. There were no on-the-scene interviews. 15 seconds, all told.

Among the topics that were deemed important enough to merit air time were the baby formula shortage, the criminal case against a Clinton-aligned lawyer, and the Steele dossier.

Fox News has the right to its own agenda, just as MSNBC or CNN or CBS has the right to theirs. Everyone spins in their own way. Everyone orders the news based on what they think is news.

The silence surrounding the Buffalo tragedy is telling.

You might say that it is an absence that speaks louder than words.

All in writing

The alleged killer left a manifesto.

If his motivation was not clear enough by his choice of a supermarket in a Black community, his writing the N-word on his rifle, and his livestreaming the attack on twitch, he also left.

Is the idea of free speech on the internet good? What experts say.

He spouts racist and antisemitic language and appeals to those who wish for a future for white children and the existence of our people.

The Great Replacement Theory has been a favorite talking point of Tucker Carlson for a long time.

Carlson said it was a liberal plot to change the racial mix of the country.

Laura Ingraham is one of the Fox News hosts who has also considered this idea.

There are many sane responses to this, from pointing out that non-white people have been a part of this country for as long as Northern Europeans have been, and that African Americans have been a part of this country for as long as anyone has been.

What we know about the suspect in the Buffalo supermarket shooting.

You could point out that America is a country built on a set of ideas enumerated in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. To put it bluntly, white racial purity is the fixation of a deranged mind.

The Great Replacement Theory has been in the background of several ugly events in the last few years, including the Unite the Right Rally in Virginia and the mosque shootings in New Zealand.

Peter Cvjetanovic (R) along with Neo Nazis, Alt-Right, and White Supremacists encircle and chant at counter protestors at the base of a statue of Thomas Jefferson after marching through the University of Virginia campus with torches in Charlottesville, Va., on Aug. 11, 2017.

Carlson modestly notes that the term "Great Replacement" is not his own. The idea is an old favorite in America, but it was created by a French white nationalist in a book in 2011.

An old idea

The dread ofiscegenation, a favorite hobby of Klansmen, Nazis and like-minded people, had everything to do with the fear of being re-segregated.

Theodore Bilbo warned in 1947 that you must take your choice.

Tom Buchanan asked if he had read "The Rise of the Colored Empires" by this man. It is all scientific and has been proven.

The very privileged white people at Tom's tea table are rolling their eyes.

Tom sums up the book "The Rising Tide of Color: The Threat Against White World-Supremacy" pretty well. The Great Replacement Theory is not new.

Even if Tucker Carlson can't be blamed for the idea, he can still be blamed for what he says in the evening.

Call them careless.

The way Daisy and her husband, Tom, spouting harebrained racial theories is just one of his bad choices.

They smashed up things and creatures and then retreated and let other people clean up the mess they had made.

He is believed to have authored a 180-page manifesto that outlines a conspiracy theory that white people were being replaced by minorities in the United States and elsewhere.

  • MSNBC's Joy Reid and Tucker Carlson often trade barbs on their shows, but on The Reid Out Monday, they pointed the finger at each other after the mass shooting in a Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. The replacement theory is a racist conspiracy that claims white Americans are being replaced by people of color. Democrats are accused of trying to change the demographic of the country for political gain by Fox hosts, guests and congressional Republicans. Tucker has done more to elevate the racist conspiracy theory than any other right-wing media personality. It's as simple as that, and every minute spent talking about the TV hosts on Fox hides the true villain of the piece. Murdoch is a puppeteer. When Murdoch was planning to create a cable news channel, he had never heard of any of the people who are now his most prominent hosts. Fox has always said exactly what Murdoch wants, even though he knew what he wanted from the beginning.

  • On Monday, Putin appeared to change his mind about Russia's opposition to Sweden and Finland joining NATO. Russia has no problem with those states, I want to inform you, dear colleagues. Expansion by those countries does not pose a threat to us. The expansion of military infrastructure into this territory would prompt a response. The comments appeared to mark a major shift in rhetoric. NATO expansion has been seen by Moscow as a threat to Russia's security and as a reason for the invasion of Ukraine. After staying out of NATO during the Cold War, Sweden and Finn decided to join after Russia invaded. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is illegal and indefensible and undermines the European security order that Sweden builds its security on. NATO member Turkey said it would not approve either bid, with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan saying Monday that Sweden and Finland should not bother sending delegations to Ankara to persuade Turkey.
