Because of his reputation as an action star, and his leading role in the movies, we tend to expect Chris Hemsworth to play the hero all the time. In the new trailer for Spiderhead, he plays against type. That's why the actor's last line in the trailer seems to call out the fact that people get away with too much. I have benefited from time to time.
Steve Abnesti is a scientist who runs the Spiderhead penitentiary in the movie. Steve is all smiles for his inmates as he gives them drugs that seem to change their personality. The inmates don't get a lot of say about how they are used. They may get reduced sentences. They should live through the experience.
Two inmates, Jeff and Lizzy, form a connection outside of Steve's experiments. He can leave it alone. Steve can't resist pushing his experiments on the two even further until they are forced to question whether the connection they feel is real or dependent upon the surgically attached devices that drug them at Steve.

The film also features BeBe Bettencourt as Emma, Mark Paguio as Verlaine, Sam Delich as Adam, Joey Vieira as Miguel, Daniel Reader as Ryan, Ron Smyck as Dave, and Stephen Tongun as Ray.
The short story "Escape from Spiderhead" was based upon the script by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and was directed by Joseph Kosinski. On June 17 it will be on the streaming service.
