Andy North impressed by what he saw from Tiger (1:15)

Tiger Woods is going into the PGA Championship. 1:45

12:22 PM ET

Tiger Woods will start on the back nine of Southern Hills Country Club.

Tiger Woods will play in a group with two other players in the first two rounds. The threesome will start on the 10th. In the first round on Thursday and on No. 1 on Friday. On Friday in the second.

The top three players in the Official World Golf Ranking are Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa. They will start at No. 1 at 2:36 p.m. On Thursday and Friday at 9:11 a.m. The trio of Johnson, Thomas and Cantlay will start at 2:14 p.m. On Thursday and Friday at 8:49 a.m. On Friday.

In 2007, Woods won the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. He would break a tie with Sam Snead for most victories on the PGA Tour with another victory.

Jon said they were all happy that Tiger was here. Who would have thought that he would be competing in a major championship again? You know, he is Tiger. He is a competitor. He will try to win every time, and the world wants him to win.

Woods will be playing in his second official event since he was seriously injured in a car wreck outside Los Angeles. He said doctors had to amputate his leg. He had not competed in 17 months when he finished 47th at the Masters in April.

Woods said earlier this week that his repaired right leg felt stronger than it did at Augusta National, where he struggled while walking the sloping fairways on the weekend.

Six weeks is enough time to recover from that week and then build yourself back up again. He is determined and stubborn. He lives for this. He believes he can win if he can get around 18 holes.

This week will see a lot of attention on the career grand slam attempt of Jordan Spieth, who will be trying to win the PGA Championship. The youngest to accomplish the feat in the Masters era is at 28 years old, and he is the third youngest to do it.
