The company posted a picture on Monday of a new logo and said it was about six months since the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
The post on Weibo was spotted by 9to5Google, and it was confirmed that a new mobile platform will be announced on May 20. There were previous rumors that we could see the Gen 1+ chip in early May. The company focused on 5G and the latest capabilities of its modem at the event.
The upcoming chip will likely have small performance improvements over its predecessor, similar to the Plus variant in the past. There are rumors that the chipmaker is going to switch to TMSC because of the issues with the S22 and other phones.
The best phones in the first half of the year should perform better if this is the case. The leaker suggested that the first devices to feature the chip would be from the likes of Lenovo, Moto, andXiaomi. We could see the chip in other devices, including the foldables from the company.
