Some things are worth waiting for. Stephen Curry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology from Davidson College on Sunday after 13 seasons in the NBA.

Curry has amassed the makings of a robust LinkedIn profile because of his academic achievement, his status as the league's all-time three-point leader, and his two NBA Most Valuable Player awards.

Curry was one semester shy of earning his degree before he was able to work with two Davidson faculty members and a UC Santa Cruz professor during the spring semester.

Dream Come True!! Class of 2010....aka 2022 but we got it done! Thanks to my whole village that helped me get across the finish line. Made the promise when I left and had to see it through. Official @davidsoncollege alum 🙌🏽 Momma we made it! #greatdaytobeawildcat pic.twitter.com/vRRo77Mkx5

While the Golden State Warriors star couldn't be there in person to receive his diplomas, what with his team trying to win another championship and all, his former coach, Bob McKillop, and the newest class of Wildcats men's basketball graduates made sure Curry was well taken care of

Other athletes who went to great lengths to earn their degrees are what we are thinking of.

Jameis.

After leaving Florida State University for the NFL, Jameis Winston is a college graduate. The New Orleans Saints quarterback walked across the stage with his peers on April 30 to receive a degree in Sociology. He told the students that he was taking classes and was focused on graduating college. That is a big achievement. I have to get my mom a degree. How many of you will get that degree for your mom?

A man named Donald.

If you thought Donald peaked when he got a 99 in Madden, think again. The Los Angeles Rams star, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and eight-time Pro Bowler added a college graduate of the University of Pittsburgh to his stacked resume in April 2020. Donald, who was a first-round pick in the NFL draft, will finish school and earn a degree in communication.

Troy Polamalu.

Troy Polamalu began studying at the University of Southern California in 1999. When he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2003 he was just a few months away from finishing his degree in history. Polamalu was able to complete a long-term goal at the age of 30. After graduating in 2011, the eight-time Pro Bowler wrote on his website, "I decided to finish what I started and walked that stage today not only because it was very important to me personally, but because I want to emphasize the importance of education."

Marcus Stroman is a man.

In May 2016 the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers had a bench-clearing brawl, but Marcus Stroman was not there because he was graduating from Duke University. I never thought I would say I was thankful for tearing my knee, but I grew so much as an individual. I was able to get my degree and I got stronger as a result. He said that the summer he had at Duke University was a big part of his current position.

Jordan Bone.

There was a virtual graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020. The former Vols star finished his college degree in secret over the past year, but when he went on SportsCenter for the "feel good friday" segment, it was under the guise that he was getting some recognition for his Mother's Day surprise. He graduated from the University of Tennessee on-air.

When Jordan Bone left school early to go pro, he promised his mom that he would graduate. He was next to his mom on SportsCenter.

The man is Cam Newton.

When he was a student at the University of Alabama, Cam Newton made a promise to his mom that he would graduate. The winner stayed true to his word. While graduating in 2015, the quarterback said that he wanted to own his own day care center and keep the focus on the other graduates.

Venus Williams.

Venus Williams is a tennis star. The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale gave Williams an associate degree in 2007. She earned a degree in business administration from Indiana University East in 2015. Williams made a pit stop at the campus to pick up her degree as she traveled to play in the Western Southern Open.

The man is Shaquille O' Neal.

The NBA player left college early to pursue his career. The Big Aristotle graduated from LSU with a degree. Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers allowed O'Neal to miss a game so he could get his degree. The chancellor said he would like to thank Mr. O' Neal for increasing the starting salary of the graduating class. In 2012 Shaq earned a doctorate in education from Barry University and was added to his long list of nicknames.

Michael Jordan.

The importance of education was never neglected by the GOAT. Before he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan studied in Chapel Hill. Jordan went back to UNC to finish his degree despite his success in the NBA.

There is a person named Michelle Kwan.

That's the master of international relations, to you. The two-time Olympic medalist and five-time world champion took her first college classes at UCLA in 1999 before leaving to focus on her figure skating career. The University of Denver gave Kwan a degree in international studies. The beloved Team USA icon continued her education by earning a master's degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Vince Carter is a person.

May 20, 2001 was a bad day for Vince Carter. Carter fulfilled a promise to his mom and accepted his college degree from the University of North Carolina. He missed a potential game winner in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Fans were quick to question Vinsanity's decision when the 76ers eliminated his Raptors.
