The company is in the early stages of exploring a new live streaming capability. Live streaming could be used for shows like competition series and reality TV reunion episodes, or for adding in audience participation features like in-show voting.

It could also be used for streaming events like the recent "Netflix is a Joke" festival, which Dave Chappelle was attacked at.

With the recent comedy festival, performances were taped with plans to put them on the streaming service. Similar events may be broadcasted in near-real-time with live streaming.

There are other streaming platforms that consider live streaming. In February, Disney Plus did a live stream. There is not much information available about the upcoming version.

There is no release date for the first live stream, and there is no timetable for the feature. Gizmodo asked for comment on the record, but a person from the company declined.

The streaming service lost subscribers for the first time in a decade, as well as having a stock drop and layoffs. The company may have brought its troubles upon itself with poor financial management and a flawed business model, but it is not yet clear if they can innovate themselves out of trouble with new bells and whistles.
