The Boys Season 3 is almost here and we have a brand new trailer to let us know what to expect.
The comic book adaptation follows the story of Boys, as they set out on a suicide mission to stop the Seven, a corrupt superhero organization that is obsessed with marketing. It is a very violent show.
The new Season 3 trailer is here.
There are a few things of note in this trailer.
It looks like Homelander is going full-evil this season, and letting the real me out of the bag. People love him more when he lets go of the nice guy. It's not even funny that Anthony Starr is so good in this role. It's funny to hear them say there's something wrong with Homelander, because you can tell from the very first moment you meet him. Clearly.
I think we can make some real-life corollaries as we watch him descend into a crowd of flag-waving fans. This is a political show, so if that sort of thing is bothering you, it's probably best to sit this one out. Guess what kind of person Stormfront was, she was a character in Season 2 who was named after a racist online message board.
I love it. I don't think every show should tackle politics head-on like this because politics can become dated quickly and are often handled poorly, but this show does a pretty good job of tackling not just the politics of the day, but also celebrity culture and so forth. It has a lot of gore, blood and humor.
The new formula that gives normal people superhero powers for 24 hours is really interesting. This is similar to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's superhero serum, but it doesn't give you super strength and defense. Billy Butcher gets Homelander's laser eyes at one point. Sometimes you have to become the thing you hate in order to stop it.
The new face in the trailer is a bearded superhero with a kite shield, who uses his shield to bash in someone's face rather gruesomely. Soldier Boy is Jensen Ackles. This is similar to The Boys. He was the first superhero injected with an unfinished version of Compound V and sent to kill Nazis, just like Cap.
Jack Quaid is Hughie Campbell, Colby Minifie is Stan Edgar, and Chace Crawford is Annie January.
It looks like it's very bad.
The first three episodes of Season 3 will be released on June 3rd, followed by weekly episodes for the next five weeks. Be sure to follow me on this blog because I will be reviewing here.
