Ime Udoka said that Marcus Smart is questionable for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat because of a right midfoot injury.
According to sources, Smart will test his foot on Tuesday after having an exam that came back clean.
He got bent up after taking a bad fall. Udoka said during a teleconference with the media Monday afternoon that he has a midfoot injury and it is tender and sore.
Smart appeared to suffer an injury when he fell over Antetokounmpo during the Celtics win.
Center Robert Williams III did not play in the win. Udoka said before the game that Williams was available and that he didn't want to disrupt his rotation.
He said Monday that Williams will have no restrictions going into the series against the Heat, and that it will be easier to integrate him at the start of the series than it will be in the middle of an ongoing one.
Rob is available, just like he was last night. He is available, no minutes restriction, and he is on a needed basis. I will always be cautious with guys coming off a layoff without touching the court, but it is different starting a new series as opposed to being injected into a Game 7 or Game 6. He is available, looks better every day, and is more confident in that.
Williams has blossomed into a huge part of Boston's team this season, playing 61 games and averaging 10 points and 9.6 rebound -- all career-highs. He missed time against Milwaukee with a bone bruise in his knee after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Regardless of the status of Smart and Williams, the Celtics will have to simply plow forward and prepare for what lies ahead against the Heat, with their burly defense and elite wing scoring from Jimmy Butler.
The Celtics say they are ready for whatever comes their way, after going up against the Bucks.
Even though the first round was very physical for us, I feel like the deeper you go, it is more intense. Both teams play hard, but neither is as good as the other team. This is what it is at this point. Both teams are going to go hard.
