Delaware will soon be the only state in the US without a commercial airline.

Frontier Airlines will stop flying between New Castle Airport in Delaware and Florida on June 6 due to insufficient demand.

Delaware is the only state in the US without an air link to the rest of the country.

The original launch of Frontier between New Castle Airport and Florida was delayed due to the Pandemic. The airline ended service between Delaware and Florida after just two years.

Jim Salmon, a spokesman for the Delaware River and Bay Authority, told The Delaware News Journal that he was disappointed in Frontier's decision to leave New Castle, but was confident that the airport's commercial service would succeed.

Despite the exit, Frontier told Insider that New Castle may not be off its route map for good, saying that they are continually evaluating their routes and ILG will certainly remain in the consideration set for potential service in the future.

New Castle will continue to operate charter and general aviation flights after Frontier leaves.
