The passenger who landed the plane after the pilot lost consciousness said he was calm and collected because he was about to become a father.

It all came down to common sense whenDarren Harrison explained the buttons and gadgets on the control panel.

The emergency was worse than first reported. The 39-year-old said the plane nose-dived at a high rate of speed after the pilot lost consciousness.

Harrison said if he didn't react, we would die.

I was pretty calm and collected the whole time because I knew it was a life or death situation. Either you do what you have to do or you will die.

Harrison said his inspiration was his wife, Britney, who was 7-months pregnant with their unborn daughter. He said that the hand of God was on the plane.

He said that he was climbing to the front when the plane was in a dive. I can die today. Britney is pregnant and I have a baby on the way. Today is not my day.

Harrison contacted the tower operator who helped guide him to the runway, where he made a perfect landing.

He did the whole thing barefoot.
