Thailand was one of the first countries in Asia to allow tourists to enter back in July of 2021.

When I entered Thailand for the third time on Friday, it was very smooth and easy to navigate.

I decided to return to Thailand due to the lack of flights between South Korea and Indonesia.

The approval for the Thailand Pass was instantaneous after I applied last week. The entire pass is likely to be scrapped soon.

My Failed Trip In January 2022

The last minute Thailand pass test and application success.

I got a ticket to enter Thailand in January but ended up getting covid found on the pre-departure tests.

I would have spent a lot of time in a hospitel if I had a covid positive test in Thailand back then.

May 13, 2022 Arrival Experience:

Vietnam Airlines flew me from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City. I showed the Vietnam Airlines agent my Thailand Pass after they asked for my vaccination proof. I think she was confused and took a picture of the code.

The agent at the check-in desk in Ho Chi Minh City asked for my Thailand Pass again, but I was able to get the updated boarding pass.

The airport was quiet and the only thing left was the Thailand Pass check.

They check the code to make sure the name matches the passport. You need to hand in the arrival card at the immigration.

I waited for the luggage to be checked at the Fast Track immigration.

I ordered a Grab because there was no need for the on-arrival test booked through a hotel and the requirement of using a hotel car.

Conclusion.

The entry to Thailand was straightforward this time, and I would expect that the Thailand Pass will soon be discontinued, as will the Mor Chana tracking app that had to be downloaded to your phone, but nobody cares about it anymore.

Vietnam is back to its pre-arrival requirements. Some people need to apply for an electronic visa or visa-on-arrival, but there are no covid-related requirements.

The high season that begins late fall and runs through the first quarter of 2023 is what Southeast Asian nations are readying for.
