Fauci says he won't work with Trump if he's elected in 2024 and said the former president's COVID-19 response 'wasn't optimal'

Anthony Fauci said on Sunday that if Donald Trump came back to the White House, he wouldn't stay in the role.

Fauci was asked if he had faith in Trump's ability to deal with the Pandemic and if he would keep his job under a Trump presidency.

Fauci, who is currently serving as a chief medical adviser under President Joe Biden, said no to the second question.

If you look at the history of what the response was during the administration, I think you can say that it wasn't optimal.

Fauci and Trump had a rocky relationship. Trump called for Fauci to be fired and diminished his guidance.

Fauci accused Trump of harassing him after he took his statements out of context for a campaign ad and lied to the public.

Fauci described his time under Trump as somewhat awkward.
