Steve Kerr has cleared health and safety protocols. He rejoined the Warriors on Sunday as they prepare for the Western Conference finals.

Kerr tested positive just two hours before Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals, forcing associate head coach Mike Brown into the head-coaching seat for the final three games of the series.

Kerr called Brown on his way to Chase Center, telling him that he might have to step in and that he wasn&t feeling well. He registered a positive test 30 minutes later.

Kerr said he had been feeling unwell before taking the test. Kerr took a test because of a few cases inside.

Kerr said that if he passed this on to the team, he would never forgive himself.

It was difficult to sit at home and watch, but the symptoms were not bad and it was my turn. Almost everyone on our coaching staff and team has had it in the last couple years. It was my turn. Thankfully, it was not bad.

Kerr said he had a cough and some congestion.

While he was in the league, Kerr stayed in constant communication with his team, participating in all of the coaches' meetings via phone, addressing his players in a video conference, and having multiple conversations and continuous texts with Brown throughout the day.

Brown said that Kerr had a clear message for him to follow while he managed the team, and that Kerr ran any decision he made.

Kerr said that Mike was fantastic. It was a difficult spot to be put into for Mike, since he had just been hired by Sacramento. It put a lot of pressure on Mike and the rest of the staff. They were great. Mike did a great job.

The Warriors will find out who they will face in the Western Conference finals on the day that Kerr comes back. They will face either the Dallas Mavericks or the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
