Zeke: Back or not back?

One of the best starts of any Cowboys player in recent memory was given by the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself, the man himself During his first year in the league, his production declined every year. Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, continues to hold out hope of a return to the old days.

At the Cowboys minicamp last week, he worked out and was running at 22 miles per hour. Just like that, here we go again. The Dallas Cowboys propaganda is about to start again.

We've heard this before. One year ago, before training camp, reports came out of Dallas that Zeke was in the best shape of his life and had something to prove. How did he back up all that hype? He averaged 58.9 yards per game, the lowest of his career.

He played in every Cowboys game last season for the second time in his six-year career. The partially torn PCL was dealt with byElliott for the better part of the season. It has been reported that the injury was suffered in the fourth week of the season. The injury may have contributed to a subpar season, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

The emergence of Tony Pollard as more than just a change-of-pace running back was one of the factors that contributed to the poor year. Pollard's rushing attempts per game went up last season. Pollard and Dallas put more of an emphasis on passing the ball, which resulted in the attempts falling by more than two per game.

The big-play ability that was once possessed by Elliott is no longer there. The Cowboys want to believe inElliott as a big-time player, but his return isn't living up to expectations. Pollard's expanded role the last two years is what you explain.

Some people might say that is washed. It would be hard to argue against the contract extension he signed in 2019. It was the last time that he played in a pro bowl. He played in all 16 games and ran for over 1,300 yards. It looked like father time was tugging at his jersey when he ran. He lost a couple of steps on the field even though he was in good shape.

I don't believe in this 22 mph speed that Elliott was seen running at Cowboys rookies camp. He wore shorts or sweatpants and did that without any defenders on the field. I know it will get Cowboys nation excited for the season, but it is all smoke and mirrors. The Cowboys have turned into a passing team with what they're paying their quarterback.

I don't think he will ever see 1,200 yards rushing again in a season. There are a lot of things that can keep him from achieving that mark. The team has an offensive philosophy. The offensive line has been declining over the past couple of years. We will have to wait until September to see how that plays out, but Dallas addressed this in the draft.

Jones and his team are trying to get the public to believe in them for the upcoming season. Jerry is great at selling dreams and does it better than anyone in sports. I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but based on what has been seen over the last two years, there's no way he's going to bounce back from what he was in 2016 to 2019. Running backs tend to stay off the ground once they fall off.
