The senator from Vermont called out Manchin and Sinema by name and argued that they had sabotaged the agenda of the president.

The president has been fighting for what he believes in, but two members of the Senate have sabotaged that.

Todd said that sabotage was a strong word to use, but that wasn't enough for him. Senate Democratic leadership with Manchin is served by a Vermont independent who caucuses with Senate Democrats.

48 members of the Senate wanted to go forward with an agenda that helped working families, that was prepared to take on the wealthy and the powerful. There were two people who prevented us from doing it.

Progressives express increasing exasperation with Manchin and Sinema, but this latest round comes as the two have tussled publicly before. The two senators are opposed to parts of Biden's climate and spending plan being passed into law.

The West Virginia Democrat snapped at the former presidential candidate when he said that he could face a primary challenger.

Manchin said at the time that he didn't think the majority of Americans represented the ideology of the senator.

The slimmed-down version of the proposal can still pass, but Democrats are running out of time before the election. Manchin and Sinema have expressed concern over rising inflation as prices spike to their worst point in 40 years. Their inflation-related fears have made them skeptical about even small pieces of Biden's plan becoming law.

According to reports, the White House has teeded off on Manchin in the past, a move that led him to kill Build Back Better late last year. Biden and his team have been careful not to question Manchin's loyalty.

Manchin joined Senate Republicans in blocking Democrats from passing federal abortion protections into law. Manchin argued that the Democrats proposal went too far, but Biden released a statement attacking Senate Republicans for opposing the bill.
