The Italian Open was the first trophy of the year for Novak Djokovic and he showed that he is back to his best just a week before the French Open.

After missing a large portion of the season because of the coronaviruses, the top-ranked Novak Djokovic won his sixth Rome title.

All week, he didn't drop a set.

He won the opening set in only half an hour and at one point he banged his racket against his bag because he was frustrated.

After falling behind early in the second set, the Serb stepped up his game and won the set.

The forehand crosscourt return winner was ripped by the Serbian. On the next point, he pushed the Greek player from the corner to the corner before the Greek player dropped his shot. As the crowd chanted his nickname, "No-le, No-le", he celebrated with a series of fist pumps.

When a backhand from Tsitsipas sailed wide on the first match point, the Serbian smiled and raised his arms.

Since the Paris Masters in November, the Serbian had not won a tournament because of his unvaccinated status.

He reached the final of his home Serbia Open last month. He was beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the Madrid Open semifinals.
