The New York Mets placed right-handed pitcher Tylor Megill on the 15-day injured list on Sunday because of an inflammation in his right bicep, four days after he allowed eight runs.
Mets manager Buck Showalter did not mention the injury during his news conference, and the team announced it about 50 minutes before the start of the game. The Mets said Megill will have an exam.
In seven starts, Megill has a 4-2 record with a 4.41 ERA, striking out 37 and walking nine. He has been part of a rotation that also includes Carlos Carrasco and Chris Bassitt.
The Mets made the move retroactive.
The contract of Colin Holderman was selected from Triple-A Syracuse, while the contract of Trevor May was transferred to the injured list.
The Mets were already missing ace Jacob deGrom, catcher James McCann, and pitchers Sean Reid-Foley and May.
