Alan Shearer

There is so much to like about the team at the moment, but it's all down to one man, and that's how it is.

The players have been phenomenal to get them to this stage of the season with two trophies in the bag and the chance of two more to come, but he is the one who sets the tone for everything they do.

I loved watching him celebrate with his players, staff and fans at Wembley after winning the FA Cup.

It all starts with him, because he has built it.

An incredible belief and will to win

Jordan Henderson, Divock Origi and James Milner are the only players left from his first game in October 2015, away at Spurs, but he has not just overhauled the squad, he has generated the atmosphere within the club and given them this incredible belief and an amazing will to win.

To get to where they are this season, with a chance of a quadruple still alive, is just staggering and we keep seeing why it is all down to him.

The way they beat the Blues in the Carabao Cup was the same way they beat them on penalties. There were fine margins between victory and defeat, but it takes courage and belief to win that way.

Reds captain Jordan Henderson summed it up when he talked about their determination and attitude, no matter what happened.

They are going for success on so many fronts because of how they beat Chelsea.

They are relentless in the way they play, and relentless in the way they keep going, and they play twice a week all season.

Before this year, he had not always picked his strongest team in the FA Cup, but with the squad he has now, he was finally able to challenge on every front.

You can talk about his signings and tactics, but it is his approach and standards that are important.

He gets what his club is about and what it means to the city, so he has a good relationship with the fans and his players. They feel the same way when they battle for every ball.

What next? Reds will fight to the finish

Sixty games have been played so far this season, with three to go.

They have picked up some injuries along the way, so it will be a big test before they face Saints. Fabinho was already out, Mohamed Salah went off early, and Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk did not come out for extra time.

They will believe they can beat Saints even though they did not have some of those players.

Manchester City have the edge in the title race and they will fight until the end, even though they are out of the title race. They have pushed each other to ridiculous heights in the past few years.

If the Reds can't win the league, what they want to do is make sure City have to go and win it, and that they don't just hand it to them at St Mary's. He will be desperate to take City to the final day of the season.

It's a fitting way for their brilliant season to end, with the final in Paris.

It would be amazing for the Reds to win three trophies this season. We know how good Real Madrid are, and how they always seem to find a way to win, but I wouldn't put it past the Reds to beat them, because of who and what their manager is.

Alan Shearer was talking to Chris Bevan.
