The Milwaukee Bucks have canceled a watch party for Sunday's Game 7 against the Boston Celtics after 21 people were injured in three separate shootings near an entertainment district in downtown Milwaukee.

The team decided to cancel the event after consultation with the city and public safety agencies, according to a spokesman for the mayor.

The Deer District watch party is likely to have drawn over 10,000 people. More than 19,000 people were inside the Fiserv Forum for the Game 6 watch party.

The shootings that happened in downtown Milwaukee last night were horrible and we condemn it. The watch party was called off to allow law enforcement to devote needed resources to the continued investigation of last night's events, but Deer District businesses will remain open.

Fans fled the streets after three people were shot near Deer District outside Fiserv Forum. 17 people with non-life-threatening injuries were left after a third shooting less than a mile from the arena.

A man and a girl who were injured in the first shooting were taken to a local hospital by a third person, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department. Three people have injuries.

The charges against the 19-year-old man were pending a review by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office. Nicole Waldner, assistant police chief, said there was no arrest made in the second shooting.

Nine firearms were recovered from the third shooting, which police said was an exchange of gunfire between two groups of people.

Waldner said at a noon news conference that people think they can just have a gunfight on a public street or in an entertainment district.

Waldner said that five of the injured in the third shooting were armed and that 10 people were taken into custody.

Everyone under the age of 20 must be off the street by 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday. There will be extra police patrols.

"We cannot have that in this city, nor anywhere else in this state, nor anywhere else in this country," Johnson said.

Milwaukee Police have not said if the shootings were related.

During the team's run to the NBA championship last season, fans began packing into Deer District. Friday was the first chance for fans to pick up the tradition of watching the Celtics on a warm day in the Eastern Conference semifinals. There were metal detectors surrounding the bars and entrance to the stage.

The first shooting took place outside of the perimeter.

Many in the crowd ran in different directions after hearing gunshots with a little more than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter of Boston's victory that tied the series 3-3.

A large police presence remained outside of the arena hours after the game.
