After the Memphis Grizzlies bowed out of the NBA playoffs with a 110-96 loss to the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of their conference semifinals series, Memphis forward Dillon Brooks said that the team is hot on the trail of the Warriors.

We are young and they are getting old.

The Memphis squad won 56 games and finished with the second seed in the West this season, and the oldest of the top eight scorers is 26 years old.

After seven consecutive playoff appearances with the "Grit" and "Grind" squad, the Grizzlies began to rebuild around a younger core. Over the past four drafts, Memphis has added Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and others to their roster.

Ja Morant, the third-year point guard for the Grizzles, suffered a bone bruise to his right knee in their Game 3 loss to the Warriors in San Francisco. After trailing the Warriors at Chase Center for most of the first two games of the series, the Grizzles came back to win at Memphis and take the series.

"Ja is one of the best point guards in this league, and his presence for the duration of the series might have changed the outcomes of Game 4 or 6."

The game was close until the Warriors went on a late shooting spurt to win it.

It was great to play against two of the best shooters in history. We are going to take this throughout the summer and be ready to do it again.

In the Bay Area, he became an instant villain after hitting Gary Payton II in the opening minutes of Game 2. The play resulted in a fractured left elbow for Payton, and an ejected and suspended Brooks for Game 3 in San Francisco. When he touched the ball, he was booed by the crowd at Chase Center.

Despite the chippiness, which continued through Game 6 during which Klay Thompson jawed at each other constantly, the Warriors and their fans were well-wishers of the victor. Stephen Curry praised the young talent and capacity to contend in the coming seasons after the game.

Curry said that he has a lot of respect for every single guy on the team in terms of how they are built as a group. They were the higher seed. They dominated throughout the course of the regular season. We were able to come out of the series with a W. There is an understanding that they made us better.

Curry and Morant have a mutual admiration for each other, with Curry lauding Morant's maturity after Game 1 in Memphis. He said that he was looking forward to more battles with the Warriors, referencing Curry's jersey number.

Curry said that his numbers were crazy. They are going to be around for a long time, fighting for supremacy in the Western Conference. We will enjoy this and keep moving towards our goal, but you have to understand that they are going to be around for a long time, and he is a problem. I love all of it, it's an amazing game, fun, entertaining, high-level basketball, all the antics and pettiness, I love it.
