It was widely expected that Marriott's partnership with MGM would come to an end after MGM acquired the operations of the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas.

MGM made a surprise announcement during a Nevada Gaming Control Commission meeting that they would keep the Marriott affiliation intact.

Many Marriott Bonvoy members consider this to-go hotel in Las Vegas to be their to-go hotel in Las Vegas. TheCosmo is one of the most desirable hotels on the Strip due to its prime location and beautiful balcony rooms.

John wrote about the initial announcement in September when MGM and Blackstone had their press releases.

What Happens To The Cosmopolitan’s Affiliation With Marriott & Bonvoy?

I've been to Las Vegas three times since September to check out if any of the employees know anything about the acquisition and the change to MGM rewards.

Word has it that the change will take place within the next three months. I am still missing a formal announcement.

The new structure of the program will be interesting for MGM elite members, as resort fees are waiving and some new benefits have been implemented. I can't wait to see what they offer me at the MGM NOIR level once the partnership goes live.

There are two sides to the story, one of which is that active gamblers miss the Identity rewards which is better than MGM rewards.

MGM revealed during a Nevada gaming commission meeting that they will continue their partnership with Marriott.

I would be interested in what MGM did to keep the Marriott affiliation rather than adopting Hyatt.

Conclusion.

MGM is in the final stages of integrating the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas into its family.

Many MGM and Hyatt customers were looking forward to earning Hyatt nights during their Las Vegas stays at the hotel, but they were disappointed to learn that the hotel would be a Marriott partner rather than a Hyatt one.

Marriott is here to stay for now, who knows what will happen in the future.
